Happy end-of-year!

The Year Wrapped Up

When I set my intentions for 2022, I chose relax as my word of the year. In 2021, I spent a lot of time working, through weekends, holidays, vacations—basically I worked all the time. While I love editing, I missed having time that was my own, not devoted to either my editing clients or my family or community. The breakneck pace of my working style in the past year had left me exhausted, resentful, and tiptoeing around burnout. I knew something had to change.

And I’m really happy to say that it did!

I made a few adjustments in 2022 to work less and enjoy life more. For one, I no longer take rush jobs. If you need an edit done quickly, I am no longer your girl! The extra money I make from the rush fee does not make up for the relaxation time lost, a lesson I learned the hard way many, many times over.

Also, about halfway through the year, and with the encouragement of my awesome business coach, Sagan, I went from a five-day work week to a four-day one. I now take Wednesdays off, and my work-life balance is so much the better for it!

I’m happy to say that I’ve made a few connections with indie authors this year, and I’m looking forward to working with more of you in 2023! As for 2023 plans, I’ve got a few sneak peeks going up in my newsletter, so feel free to sign up if you’re interested in hearing about that!

Winter Break

My winter break this year will be from December 26 through January 9. I’ll be checking emails occasionally during this time, but don’t expect to see a reply in the usual time frame. If you don’t hear back right away, I’ll definitely be getting back to you once I’m back in the office!

I hope you have a wonderful end of the year, happy holidays if you celebrate, and a Happy New Year! Thanks so much for tagging along in 2022, and let’s meet again in 2023!
